I’m going to give you three tips that will help you look (and hopefully feel!) more confident on your assessment day!
Relaxation/ breathing exercises
Yes, you’re right, it’s not going to be easy as you will be nervous.
And what happens when you’re nervous?
Well, your heart rate speeds up and your breathing speeds up too, meaning you are more likely to take shallow breaths, which makes you more anxious, which starts to stress you and so on and so forth.
So, what we need to do is calm things down a lot and we are going to use our breathing to do this!
Once we slow down our breathing then we can slow down our heartbeat and we won’t feel as anxious and stressed anymore.
And it’s not even difficult.
Before you enter the assessment day, I want you to try this exercise.
I want you to breathe in for the count of three, then hold your breath for a count of three and then breathe out for a count of three.
Repeat this at least three times!
In fact, why not try it right now and see how much more calm and relaxed you will instantly feel?
No-one will even know you are doing this, so you can do it as often as you need to during your assessment day and radiate calm and relaxation- the ultimate confident candidate!
Relaxation/ breathing exercises
Imagine what a confident person looks like. They always look relaxed and calm don’t they and as if they can take on the world. And that’s what you want to look like during your assessment day. Easier said than done though right?

Imagine succeeding
Now this one may seem a bit out there, but I want you to build your confidence before your assessment day by imagining your success!
So, in the run-up to your assessment day, ONLY imagine good things!
The more you imagine these things, the more confident you will become as you start seeing yourself as cabin crew.
It’s really important to believe in yourself and using your imagination to see yourself succeeding will help you do this in a really fun way!
So let your imagination run wild and know all these lovely daydreams have a very positive role to play in building your confidence!

It’s all too easy for us to imagine things going wrong in our heads, so why not use this amazing skill to visualise us doing amazing things?
So, in the run-up to your assessment day, ONLY imagine good things!
- Imagine yourself opening up your email telling you you have been successful.
- Imagine yourself sharing your good news with your friends and family and heading out on the town to celebrate.
- Imagine acing all your exams during your cabin crew training (and why not imagine yourself being top of the class whilst you are at it?)
- Imagine yourself being fitted for your gorgeous new cabin crew uniform and admire just how good you look in it!
- Imagine getting your cabin crew “wings” at your awards ceremony with your incredibly proud family looking on.
- Imagine strolling through the airport wearing your new uniform with pride
- And imagine welcoming your passengers on-board your first ever flight!
The more you imagine these things, the more confident you will become as you start seeing yourself as cabin crew.

Adopt a power pose!
I want you to watch a video and learn how to adopt a power pose.
Now, you may wonder what a power pose is and it’s all brilliantly explained in the video.
However, what you need to know is that the power pose can be used to actually fake confidence!
You see, the creator of this video, a genius called Amy Cuddy, discovered that confident people have high levels of testosterone and low levels of cortisol (the stress hormone!)
So, she created a pose (yep, called the power pose!) that increases your levels of testosterone and lowers your levels of cortisol, thereby actually MAKING you more confident.
How amazing is that!
AND, what’s incredible is that you only need to hold the power pose for two minutes for it to work!
And, if you are doubtful that it works then let me tell you that experiments were carried out to test the power pose.
Some candidates were asked to hold the power pose and others weren’t.
And, guess what?
Those who help the power post were deemed to be more engaged, enthusiastic and confident than those who had not held the power pose!
So, what are you waiting for?
Remember, this could be your secret weapon on your assessment day.
I promise not to tell if you don’t!
Now, this may seem a little crazy but bear with me on this one as I have tried it and know it works!
